Biography

Susan was the wife of Eli­sha Hoff­man, mo­ther of Ira Hoff­man, and sis­ter of Aar­on Or­wig. The town of Or­wigs­burg, Penn­syl­van­ia, is named af­ter her fa­mi­ly.

She gra­du­at­ed from Un­ion Se­mi­na­ry, New Ber­lin, Ohio, in 1862, the young­est mem­ber of her class.
