Died: May 4, 1943, Cleve­land, Ohio. Note: The Find­a­grave me­mo­ri­al says he died in 1954, but it is con­tra­dict­ed by the tomb­stone pho­to there, which agrees with the Cy­ber Hym­nal™ year of 1943.

Buried: Ri­ver­side Ce­me­tery, Cleve­land, Ohio.

Biography

Ira was the son of Eli­sha Hoff­man and Sus­an Or­wig, and hus­band of Jes­sie Maude Has­kins.

At age nine, he is said to have writ­ten the mu­sic for his fa­ther’s song The Lit­tle Pil­grim. As an ad­ult, he was a com­pos­er, ar­ran­ger, and mu­sic ed­it­or.
