Mildred was the daugh­ter of Will­iam Wall­ace Hill.

A con­cert pi­an­ist, or­gan­ist, au­thor, teach­er and mu­si­co­lo­gist, she is prob­ab­ly best re­mem­bered as co-writer, with her sis­ter Pat­ty Smith Hill, of the tune Hap­py Birth­day to You.
