Bartholomäus was the son of Johannes Helder (1551–1621), rector of the Gymnasium Illustre in Gotha (1582–1592), and later Superintendent and Court Preacher in Gotha.
In 1607, Bartholomäus became a teacher and Kantor at Freimar. Then, from 1616 until his death, he served as pastor of Remstädt, Nessetal.
