The majority of evidence shows Heath was born December 3, 1745, in Exeter, Devon, Eng­land.

After attend­ing the Dis­sent­ing Acad­e­my in Ex­e­ter, Eng­land, Heath be­came the pas­tor of a Pres­by­ter­i­an church in Hon­i­ton, De­von, in 1770. Lat­er he served as a Un­i­tar­i­an min­is­ter. His works inc­lude:
