Bessie Porter Head

An Anglican, Bessie was the daughter of a Belfast flour mill manager, and wife of Albert Alfred Head, a London insurance broker and Chairman of the Keswick Convention.

She became secretary of the Young Women’s Christian Association in Swansea in 1894 and served with the South African General Mission (1897–1907). She wrote a number of hymns, some of which appeared in Heavenly Places & Other Messages (1920) and in the Keswick Hymn Book around 1937.
