Hassler studied music under his father, musician Isaac Hassler, and with Andrea Gabrieli, who at the time was organist of St. Mark’s Ca­thed­ral in Venice, Italy. Hassler served as organist for Count Octavian Fugger of the famous Fugger family in Augsburg, Germany; at the Frauenkirche in Nuremberg; and for Prince Christian II of Saxony at Dresden.
