Annie was the daughter of James Fortescue Harrison, Member of Parliament for Kilmarnock, Scotland.
An English composer of songs and piano pieces, she married in 1877 and became known as Lady Arthur Hill.
She wrote two operettas, The Ferry Girl and The Lost Husband. Her most popular song was In the Gloaming (1877), with lyrics by Meta Orred.
