Biography

Annie was the daugh­ter of James For­tes­cue Har­ris­on, Mem­ber of Par­lia­ment for Kil­mar­nock, Scot­land.

An Eng­lish com­pos­er of songs and pi­ano pieces, she mar­ried in 1877 and be­came known as La­dy Ar­thur Hill.

Works

She wrote two op­er­et­tas, The Fer­ry Girl and The Lost Hus­band. Her most po­pu­lar song was In the Gloam­ing (1877), with lyr­ics by Me­ta Or­red.
