Belle was the daughter of Edward B. Case and Helen Annibal Case, and wife of Newton Ross Harrington. A childhood accident left her lame for life, but she loved to write. She contributed to magazines such as Cosmopolitan, Ladies Home Journal, and Women’s Home Companion. In 1885 she wrote an article each week for the Toledo Blade under the name The Old Maid. She was also known as an excellent public speaker. Her works include:
