Biography

Hankinson was edu­cat­ed at Cor­pus Christi Col­lege, Cam­bridge (BA 1828, MA 1831), where he won the Sea­ton­i­an prize for Eng­lish verse nine times (1831–42).

He served as cur­ate of St. Ni­cho­las Cha­pel, King’s Lynn, and in­cum­bent of St. Mat­thew’s Cha­pel, Den­mark Hill.

• Sacred Po­ems, 1827. His bro­thers re­pub­lished this work in en­larged form as a me­mo­ri­al vol­ume in 1844, and it was re-is­sued se­ver­al times (fifth ed­it­ion in 1860).
