Biography

Christian was the son of Chris­tian Lud­wig Haas and Ann Ma­ria Hein­ri­ke Illg, and hus­band of Ro­sa Do­ro­thy Nol­te.

He at­tend­ed pub­lic schools in Jef­fer­son Ci­ty, Mis­sou­ri, and gra­du­at­ed from Elm­hurst Col­lege, near Chi­ca­go, Il­li­nois (1883) and Ed­en Theo­lo­gic­al Se­mi­na­ry, Web­ster Groves, Mis­sou­ri (1886).

He or­gan­ized and served at St. James Church, St. Lou­is, Mis­sou­ri (1886–1903), and was pas­tor of St. Paul’s Church, Buf­fa­lo, New York (1903–28).
