Biography

Greenwood stu­died un­der Stop­forth, or­gan­ist of Ha­li­fax par­ish church. He be­came the or­gan­ist at Keigh­ley at age 16, and at Leeds par­ish church in 1821.

After al­most six years at Leeds, he vis­it­ed France, Lond­on and Am­eri­ca, stay­ing in each coun­try about two years. He ev­en­tu­al­ly set­tled in Ha­li­fax, and served as or­gan­ist at the South Pa­rade Me­tho­dist Church un­til 1835.
