Henry was the husband of artist Eliza Pratt (1819–1897).
He got his early musical training from his father, Thomas Greatorex, organist at Westminster Abbey.
He emigrated to America in 1839, and played the organ at Center Church and St. John’s Church in Hartford, Connecticut; St. Paul’s Church and Calvary Protestant Episcopal Church, New York City; and (from 1853) in Charleston, South Carolina. His works include:
