Died: March 6, 1849, Bos­ton, Mas­sa­chu­setts.

Buried: First Church in Ja­mai­ca Plain Ce­me­te­ry, Bos­ton, Mas­sa­chu­setts.

Biography

Gray was the son of Tho­mas Gray and De­bor­ah Still­man.

He gra­du­at­ed from Har­vard Col­lege in 1823.

After vi­sit­ing Europe, he earned his MD degree in 1827, and prac­ticed me­di­cine in Boston, Mas­sa­chu­setts. He sub­se­quent­ly moved in­to a ca­reer in chem­is­try.

His hymns were main­ly writ­ten for child­ren, and for oc­ca­sion­al ser­vic­es.
