Early 20th Century

Mr. C. H. Goo­tee of Pres­ton, Md., who has been en­gaged in mis­sion work in this ci­ty for se­ver­al years, and who has done ev­an­gel­is­tic work in ma­ny of the East­ern pri­sons, has suc­ceed­ed in form­ing the Na­tion­al Pri­son­ers Mis­sion­ary As­so­cia­tion; its ob­ject be­ing to ar­range for Sun­day schools and the preach­ing of the gos­pel in jails, work­hous­es, con­vict camps and long-term pri­sons through­out the Unit­ed States, and al­so dis­trib­ute Bi­bles and gos­pel read­ing ma­ter­i­al among pri­son­ers in their cells.

The work is un­de­no­mi­na­tion­al. The of­fice of Mr. Goo­tee, the pre­sident of the as­so­ci­ation, is in the Mid­night Res­cue Miss­ion.
