Biography

William was the son of John Glad­stone and Ann Ro­bert­son, hus­band of Ca­the­rine Glynne, and fa­ther of Will­iam Hen­ry Glad­stone.

He served as Prime Min­is­ter of Bri­tain, 1868–74, 1880–85, 1886 and 1892–94.
