Died: Au­gust 12, 1948, St. Le­on­ard’s on the Sea, Sus­sex, Eng­land.

Biography

Son of the cur­ate at Haw­ley, Gil­lett was edu­cat­ed at West­min­ster School and Ke­ble Col­lege, Ox­ford (BA 1896).

He was or­dained a dea­con in 1898, and priest in 1899, and held cur­a­cies in Lon­don and Bright­on.

He spent time in South Af­ri­ca (1913–25), was an ed­it­or for the So­cie­ty for Pro­pa­ga­tion of the Gos­pel (1926–33), and served as cha­plain to the Com­mu­ni­ty of St. Pe­ter in St. Leo­nard’s on the Sea.

Works

While do­mes­tic chap­lain to Earl Beau­champ at Ma­dres­field, he con­trib­ut­ed three trans­la­tions and a hymn to the 1906 Eng­lish Hym­nal.
