Biography

Kenny was the hus­band of Cin­dy Gates.

In 1949, he be­came the pi­an­ist for the Blue Ridge Quartet, where spent his en­tire pro­fess­ion­al ca­reer. In ad­di­tion to play­ing the pi­ano, he com­posed and ar­ranged for the group, and was its bar­itone sing­er from 1953 to 1956.

He was in­duct­ed in­to the South Ca­ro­li­na Gos­pel Mu­sic As­so­cia­tion Hall of Fame in 2008, and the South­ern Gos­pel Mu­sic Hall of Fame in 2011.
