Biography

Stancel was the bro­ther of Wal­ter Ga­nus.

He and Wal­ter re­ceived mu­sic­al train­ing at Liv­ing­ston Col­lege, Liv­ing­ston, Ala­ba­ma (now the Uni­ver­si­ty of West Ala­ba­ma).

Stanus sang with the Ga­nus Bro­thers Quar­tet from Birm­ing­ham, Ala­ba­ma, in the late 1920s and ear­ly 1930s, and with se­ver­al Vaugh­an and Stamps-Bax­ter quar­tets. Lat­er in life, he taught mu­sic in Lake­land, Flo­ri­da.
