Franck served as Ka­pell­meist­er at Ans­bach (1673-9). Af­ter com­mit­ting man­slaugh­ter in a jeal­ous rage, he fled to Ham­burg, and wrote 14 op­er­as (1679-86). He re­port­ed­ly moved to Spain in 1688, but by 1690 was in Lon­don, where he per­formed with Ro­bert King.
