Christina was the sixth daughter of Thomas and Jean Campbell Hamilton Forsyth. Her siblings include William Forsyth, Queen’s Counsel and sometime Member of Parliament for Cambridge; minister John Hamilton Forsyth; and Douglas Forsyth, C.B., commissioner of the Punjab in India.

During a long and painful illness, she composed several hymns and poems which were issued as leaflets. These were collected after her death, and published in 1861, as Hymns by C. F.
