Son of a Congregational minister, Ford entered Wymondley College, Hertfordshire, in 1816. In 1821, he became pastor of the Congregational Church at Lymington, Hampshire, in 1821; Traveling Secretary to the Congregational Union in 1841; and pastor of Greensgate Chapel, Salford, Manchester, in 1843. His works include:
