Alice mar­ried Dan­i­el Flow­er­dew, who for a few years held a gov­ern­ment post in Ja­mai­ca. Af­ter his death in 1801, she kept a la­dies’ board­ing school in Is­ling­ton, Eng­land. Dur­ing that time, she was a mem­ber of the Gen­er­al Bap­tist con­gre­ga­tion in Wor­ship Street (lat­er re­named Beth­nal Green Road). Sub­se­quent­ly, she moved to Bu­ry St. Ed­munds, and some years lat­er to Ips­wich. Her works in­clude:
