Spring Grove Cemetery, Cincinnati, Ohio. This cemetery is also the resting place of W. Howard Doane, who composed the music for Fisher’s Jesus the Way.

Fisher’s parents were Dr. James C. Fisher and Eliza Sparks Fisher. In 1856, he married Aurelia Stafford Crossette, daughter of minister Robert Crossette.

During the American civil war, Fisher served as a colonel in the 13th Ohio National Guard: In Jasper and Gold, edited by Tullius C. O’Kane (Cincinnati, Ohio: Hitchcock & Walden, 1877), page 139, his name is shown with the title Col. (Colonel). Fisher, an attorney, also served as United Commissioner of Patents (1869-70).
