Frederick was the son of Dis­ci­ples of Christ min­is­ter Au­gus­tus Da­mon Fill­more and Han­nah Ma­ria Lock­wood, and bro­ther of James and Charles Fill­more.

He and his bro­thers found­ed the Fill­more Bro­thers Mu­sic House in Cin­cin­na­ti, Ohio. He had a won­der­ful voice, and as an ef­fec­tive Gos­pel sin­ger was un­sur­passed in his day. Fred­er­ick’s works in­clude:
