Fettke at­tend­ed Oak­land Ci­ty Col­lege (now Oak­land Ci­ty Uni­ver­si­ty) and Ca­li­fo­rnia State Uni­ver­si­ty, East Bay at Hay­ward.

He was a min­is­ter and teach­er for al­most four de­cades.
