Little is known of Fellows’ life. In his early years, he lived at Bromsgrove, Worcestershire. Joseph Belcher states he was a poor shoe maker, a member of the Baptist denomination, and that he lived in Birmingham. Fellows wrote some 55 hymns, six of which appear in John Rippon’s Selection. Fellows’ works include:

  1. Dear Lord, and Will Thy Pardoning Love
  2. Descend, Celestial Dove
  3. Go, Teach the Nations and Baptize
  4. Great God, Now Condescend
  5. Great God, We in Thy Courts Appear
  6. Great Things, O Everlasting Son
  7. Humble Souls Who Seek Salvation
  8. In Jordan’s Tide the Baptist Stood
  9. Jesus, Mighty King of Zion
