Biography

Farrant served at the Cha­pel Roy­al off and on from about 1550 un­til his death. In 1564, he be­came Mas­ter of the Cho­rist­ers and or­gan­ist at St. George’s Cha­pel, Wind­sor.

He is re­mem­bered as a play­wright, com­pos­er of ser­vic­es and an­thems, and for con­vert­ing the old Black­fri­ars mon­as­tery to a the­ater.
