Biography

Appointed su­per­in­tend­ent of the Sun­day School at Tenth Bap­tist Church, Phi­la­del­phia, in 1854. Un­der his di­rect­ion, the Sun­day School be­came the first in that ci­ty to make mu­sic a pro­mi­nent fea­ture of its ac­ti­vi­ties.

In 1872, he was elect­ed Pre­si­dent of the Bap­tist Sun­day School As­so­cia­tion of Phi­la­del­phia.
