At age nine, Ett be­came a chor­ist­er in a Ben­edic­tine ab­bey. He studied at the Wilhelm Gymnasium and Elec­tor’s School in Mu­nich, and in 1816, was ap­point­ed or­gan­ist at St. Mi­chael’s Church in Mu­nich, where he re­mained un­til his death. He com­posed sev­er­al Mass­es and other Ca­tho­lic church mu­sic. Streets bear his name in both Ere­sing and Mu­nich. Ett’s works in­clude:
