Biography

John was the son of Sam­uel Clark Dun­can-Clark, and husband of Blanche Gold­stone Ham­il­ton.

He gra­du­at­ed from the Uni­vers­ity of To­ron­to in 1898. He then served for sev­er­al years as a min­is­ter, and for a short time as a mis­sion­ary in Lab­ra­dor.

From 1905–1913 he was on the edi­tor­ial staff of the Lou­is­ville, Ken­tuc­ky, Her­ald.

From 1913–1931, he was chief ed­it­or­ial writ­er for the Chi­ca­go Ev­en­ing Post, then be­came an ed­it­or­ial writ­er for the Chi­ca­go Dai­ly News.

In 1918, he toured the World War I bat­tle zones, and wrote a ser­ies of ana­lyt­ic­al ar­ti­cles for the Post
