1894-Circa 1960
Alfred Dulin Olsen

April 20, 1894, Trondheim, Norway.

Circa 1960, New York City.

Duhlin was the son of a Salvation Army (SA) officer. Music ran in the family: His younger brother was composer Sparre Olsen. Alfred emigrated to America in 1916, and became an SA music leader in Chicago, Illinois.

In his book Ord i Samklang, Haakon Dahlstrøm states it has been difficult to find out anything about Duhlin’s death. He spent his last years at a Salvation Army home for seniors in New York. He speculates that Duhlin died outside the home without identification papers, and was buried in an unidentified grave.
