Biography

William was the son of Will­iam Drum­mond, a na­val sur­geon, and Rose Hare.

He mar­ried twice: to Bar­ba­ra Tomb and Ca­the­rine Black­ley. He lost his fa­ther (who had just opened a prac­tice in Bal­ly­clare) in in­fan­cy.

He was edu­cat­ed for the min­is­try at the Uni­ver­si­ty of Glas­gow. In 1793, he be­came pas­tor of the Second Pres­by­te­ri­an Church in Bel­fast, and in 1816, of the Strand Street Church in Dub­lin.
