Doak was living in Frankfort Springs, Pennsylvania, in 1880. In 1889, he was in the senior class of Pennsylvania Normal School in Edinboro, Pennsylvania. He served as pastor of the Methodist Episcopal church in Armagh, Pennsylvania (1894-95) and in Zelienople, Pennsylvania (1924-26). He was living in Beaver County, Pennsylvania, as of 1930.
