Biography

Aubrey was the son of 2nd Ba­ro­net Sir Au­brey de Vere and Ma­ry Spring Rice, ne­phew of Lord Mont­ea­gle, bro­ther of 4th Ba­ro­net Sir Ste­phen de Vere, and cou­sin of po­et­ess Lu­cy Knox.

He was edu­cat­ed at Tri­ni­ty College, Dub­lin. While John New­man was re­ctor of the Ro­man Ca­tho­lic Uni­ver­si­ty, Dub­lin, de Vere was a pro­fess­or there.
