Denton was educated at Worcester College, Oxford (BA 1844). Entering Holy Orders, he was successively Curate of Bradfield, Berkshire; Barking, Essex; and Shoreditch, London. In 1850, he became Vicar of St. Bartholomew’s, Cripplegate, London. In addition to well known Scripture commentaries, his works include:
