Erin was the son of Er­in Ma­con De­la­van, Sr. and Ed­na May John­ston, and hus­band of Mar­lene Eli­za­beth Mc­Ken­zie.

A per­form­er and edu­cat­or, his last teach­ing po­si­tion was at Or­al Ro­berts Uni­ver­si­ty, Tul­sa, Ok­la­ho­ma.
