Biography

Deiss at­tend­ed the Gre­go­ri­an Uni­ver­si­ty in Rome, and en­tered the Con­gre­ga­tion of the Ho­ly Spi­rit in 1942.

For a while he was a pro­fess­or of Ho­ly Scrip­ture at a se­mi­na­ry in Braz­za­ville, Con­go. Re­turn­ing to France for health rea­sons in 1948, he taught at the se­mi­na­ry of Che­vil­ly-La­rue.

He is said to have com­posed ov­er 400 hymns. Some of his com­po­si­tions sold ov­er five mil­lion co­pies.
