Born: Jan­ua­ry 15, 1782, New Jer­sey (va­ri­ous­ly re­port­ed as Cum­ber­land Coun­ty or Sa­lem Coun­ty).

Died: Au­gust 26, 1826, Col­er­ain Town­ship, Lan­cas­ter County, Penn­syl­van­ia.

Buried: Old Un­ion Ce­me­te­ry, Col­er­ain Town­ship, Penn­syl­van­ia.

Biography

Dare joined the Pres­by­te­ri­an church in Green­wich, Cum­ber­land Coun­ty, New Jer­sey, at age 23.

From 1817 un­til his death, he was pas­tor of the Un­ion Pres­by­te­ri­an Church, Col­er­ain Town­ship. He al­so served as Dean of Boys at Wilm­ing­ton College, De­la­ware.

A mu­si­cian as well as a min­is­ter and ed­u­cat­or, his orig­in­al com­po­si­tions can be traced back to the po­pu­lar Re­po­si­tory of Sac­red Mu­sic, Part Sec­ond, 1820.
