Elisabethe was the daugh­ter of a fam­i­ly of Po­lish no­bil­i­ty, which sought re­fuge from per­se­cu­tion at Wit­ten­berg. In 1524, she mar­ried Cas­par Cru­ci­ger, son of a Leip­zig bur­gess, who was stu­dy­ing in Wit­ten­berg. She and her hus­band were friends of Mar­tin Lu­ther and his wife Katherine.
