Educated at the Roy­al School of Dun­gan­non, Crossley was a pro­fess­or of Greek at Bris­tol Uni­ver­si­ty, England, and at Bel­fast Un­i­ver­si­ty, Ire­land. He al­so stu­died mu­sic un­der Bert­hold Tours. His works in­clude:
