Biography

William, a min­is­ter, was the son of Will­iam Nev­ins Crane and Ab­by Car­ol­ine Merriam, and hus­band of Elea­nor Wins­low Run­kle (mar­ried Ju­ly 29, 1902, Cam­bridge, Mas­sa­chu­setts).

He was pas­tor of the Con­gre­ga­tion­al Church in Rich­mond, Mas­sa­chu­setts, 1907–22.

It is said Crane wrote an an­nu­al Christ­mas hymn for 47 con­se­cu­tive years. He was al­so re­port­ed to be a su­perb or­gan­ist.
