Trained as a physician, Crabbe left the medical profession and, after taking Holy Orders, was successively Curate of Aldborough, and of Strathern, and Incumbent of Evershot, Mirston and Trowbridge. Though recognized as a poet, his hymns are few and not widely known. His works include:
