Jane was the daugh­ter of min­is­ter John Boak, wife of min­is­ter Jo­seph Cot­ter­ill (mar­ried 1811), and mo­ther of Hen­ry Cot­ter­ill, Bi­shop of Ed­in­burgh, Scot­land.
