Biography

A Me­tho­dist Epis­co­pal min­is­ter, Cope­land served 22 church­es in west­ern New York state ov­er the course of 42 years. He found­ed five church­es, four of which were in Buf­fa­lo.

In 1892, he be­came sec­re­ta­ry of the Me­tho­dist Un­ion, and in 1918, Sy­ra­cuse Uni­ver­si­ty gave him an hon­or­ary STD degree. He re­tired in Buf­fa­lo in 1919.
