Americus was the son of James and America Conner, and husband of Mary J. Cadwallader (married 1875).

A Disciples of Christ minister like his father, he was ordained in 1875. He held pastorates in Pennsylvania, Indiana, Illinois, and Canada.

In 1909, he founded the Boys Friends, and published the movement’s magazine for five years. He was also a Chautauqua lecturer.

Copyright records show Conner living in Danville, Indiana, in 1897. He retired around 1924 and moved to Indianapolis.
