Biography

Ithamar was the son of John Con­key and Eu­nice Bee­man, and hus­band of Eli­za­beth Bill­ings.

He played the or­gan for a while at Cen­tral Bap­tist Church in Nor­wich, Con­nec­ti­cut.

In 1850, he moved to New York Ci­ty and was a bass so­lo­ist in choirs at Cal­va­ry Epis­co­pal Church and Grace Church.

Beginning in 1861, he was the bass so­lo­ist and quar­ter choir di­rect­or at the Ma­di­son Ave­nue Bap­tist Church, where he served un­til his death.
