Biography

Clark at­tend­ed Am­herst Col­lege, Un­ion Theo­lo­gic­al Se­mi­na­ry, and Co­lum­bia Uni­ver­si­ty.

In 1904, he went to In­dia as a Con­gre­ga­tion­al Church mis­sion­ary. In 1925, he found­ed the Nag­pa­da Neigh­bor­hood House in Bom­bay (now Mum­bai).

He lat­er served as prin­ci­pal of Un­ion Train­ing Col­lege and the Unit­ed Theo­lo­gic­al Col­lege; sec­re­ta­ry to the Am­er­ican Board of Com­mis­sion­ers for For­eign Mis­sions (1930–47), and trust­ee of the In­ter­na­tion­al Me­di­cal Mis­sion­ary So­cie­ty and sec­re­ta­ry for In­dia, Cey­lon (now Sri Lan­ka), Phil­ip­pines, Spain, and Mex­ico.
