Daughter of Dr. Charles Koon, Myr­tle attended the Detroit Training School of Elocution and English Literature. She founded and directed the Grand Rapids School of Elocution (1886-90). She was the so­ci­e­ty ed­it­or and mu­sic cri­tic for the Grand Ra­pids Ev­en­ing Press for 12 years, and com­posed a bo­dy of pi­a­no mu­sic. Her works in­clude:

• Songs of Sun­shine (Grand Ra­pids, Mi­chi­gan: 1908)
