Biography

William was the son of John Wall Call­cott and Eli­za­beth Ma­ry Hut­chins.

He stu­died mu­sic un­der his fa­ther and his bro­ther-in-law Will­iam Hors­ley. He com­posed a great deal for the pi­ano­for­te, and al­so glees, songs and an­thems.

He was for a time or­gan­ist at Ely Place Cha­pel, then at St. Bar­na­bas’ Church, Ken­sin­gton, Lon­don, for 16 years.
